ALBANY (AP) -- The Thruway Authority and the New York state chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving have launched their annual campaign to remind drivers not to drink and get behind the wheel.
The "Tie One On For Safety" campaign kicked off Thursday and runs through January.
Thruway toll collectors will be handing out red ribbons as part of MADD's annual holiday campaign.
State officials say some 35,000 ribbons will be distributed to motorists at nine Thruway interchanges from the Hudson Valley to Buffalo.
MADD was found more than 30 years ago and now has 600-plus affiliates nationwide, including 18 throughout New York state.
