SYRACUSE -- Family and friends of 17-year-old Taylor Fleming say the Cicero-North Syracuse High School senior's personality could light up a room.
They say it's her personality that's affected so many people in the community and why so many people showed up to a benefit concert in her honor on Sunday.
Westcott Theater in Syracuse was packed with people wearing blue shirts in honor of Taylor, who died after being badly injured in a car crash in December.
The concert, which cost $10 to attend, was organized by the band "Weekend Crush", made up of students at C-NS. Band members said it's their way of helping the family through such a difficult time.
"It's amazing, the amount of people that are here for Taylor, that either they knew her or they've seen her and they still are here to show that Taylor made an impact on their lives and I think it's great," said Taylor's older sister Kaleigh Fleming.
"It's not going to be an easy (healing) process but with everybody else -- we're able to smile and not have to fake anything...it's really incredible," said Shawn Radder, Taylor's boyfriend.
The family said the money raised will help pay for funeral and hospital expenses. The plan right now is to donate any leftover money to the Special Olympics and create a scholarship fund in Taylor's name.
