ONEIDA CO. -- A 25-year-old inmate is charged with assaulting a Sherrill man accused of killing a 6-year-old girl.

Shaun Andrews, of Brooklyn, is accused of assaulting 30-year-old David Trebilcock at the Oneida County Correctional Facility on January 4. Trebilcock was treated and released for his injuries.

At the time, Trebilcock did not want to press charges, but changed his mind. Jail officials aren't sure what motivated the assault, but say there were no outward signs of any ongoing problems.

Andrews was arraigned in Whitestown Town Court where he pleaded not guilty. He was taken back to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.

Trebilcock is accused of stabbing six-year-old Lauren Belius to death last summer at their home in Sherrill. Belius was the daughter of Trebilcock's girlfriend.

Trebilcock's trial is scheduled to start in February.
