ELMIRA (AP) -- A 21-year-old restaurant worker in upstate New York has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing a bar owner after a sexual encounter.
Louis Duffy confessed he shot Clinton "Billy" Lewis in the head last May in the 53-year-old victim's apartment across the street from his Club Chili bar in Elmira.
At trial in November, Duffy said he went to stay with Lewis after being offered a construction job and agreed to have sex.
He said the attack was triggered by engaging in consensual sex with a man for the first time and suffering a flashback to being molested as a child.
Jurors rejected the psychiatric defense that he'd been overcome by "extreme emotional disturbance." Duffy drew the maximum penalty for second-degree murder Thursday.
