Inner Harbor, Syracuse

SYRACUSE -- Syracuse's Inner Harbor is one step closer to seeing major development.
An advisory committee is recommending Cor Development's $350 million development plan over two other proposals.
The plan includes bringing apartments, hotels, shops, office buildings and an Onondaga Community College satellite campus to the 28 acres of land. The Inner Harbor connects Franklin Square to Carousel Center and Onondaga Lake. The city is currently waiting for the New York State Canal Corporation to transfer the property to the city.
The deal still needs to be signed off on by the Common Council and Mayor Stephanie Miner. Mayor Miner says she will analyze the recommendation.
"I want to make sure this is a development that is fitting in with the city, that fits in with our vision of a pedestrian friendly city that connects neighborhoods, that is not just big box development," Miner said.
If Mayor Miner goes along with the recommendation, she says she will negotiate an agreement with COR Development that will go before the common council for approval.
