The Seneca River will be the site next weekend for a polar dip like this
You can stay inside and complain about the weather...or get out and embrace it. Baldwinsville's Big Chill organizers embrace--in a big way. Their event includes extremes, like jumping into the Seneca River for a Polar Bear Plunge (Meteorologist Matt Stevens did this two years ago, and is considering a repeat performance). There's also the traditional--food sampling from local restaurants, and a traditional bonfire.
Tony Saraceni, one of the weekend's organizers, says most events are Saturday (January 21) starting at noon, including the river plunge and the food sampling. There's also a wine, cheese and chocolate tasting Friday night, and a 'poker bear express' on Saturday evening--that's a pub crawl with card playing along the way. It all benefits the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce, the Ronald McDonald House and Cystic Fibrosis.
