Authorities say a turkey in the road resulted in drunken driving arrests for two northern New York men.

State police say a 50-year-old Brasher Falls man was traveling on a road in the St. Lawrence County town of Lawrence on Sunday afternoon when he swerved to avoid a turkey in the roadway, lost control of his vehicle and went off the road. Troopers arrived on the scene and charged the man with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.

A 40-year-old man from Winthrop was following his friend and pulled over to help him. Troopers say the second man also was drunk, and he was charged with DWI too.
