NEW YORK MILLS --
A five hour standoff has come to an end after a tense night for State Police.
Officers were called to Carolyn Courts Apartment building in New York Mills around 3:00 on Monday. WKTV reports police were called to the apartment building for a report of a distraught subject. According to New York State Police Captain Francis Coots, the incident began as a domestic dispute, but took a turn to a standoff when authorities showed up.
State police say 54-year-old James Mogle barricaded himself inside his apartment with a handgun, and possibly a long gun. It took police five hours to talk him out of the apartment and around 8:00 he peacefully surrendered to police.
WKTV reports Mogle was taken away from the scene in an ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.
Officials do not believe criminal charges will be filed.
