SPAFFORD -- A man injured in an explosion over the weekend is now facing charges.

Justin Clark, 22, of Cold Brook Road in Spafford, suffered a severe hand injury on Saturday. Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say Clark was using gunpowder to make an explosive device he wanted to use to get rid of a beaver dam near his property. It accidentally went off.

The sheriff's department's Hazardous Device Disposal Team had to be called. During the investigation, police found ten marijuana plants growing inside Clark's home.

Clark is facing several charges, including criminal possession of a weapon and unlawfully growing cannabis. He was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and released to the Onondaga County Probation Department's Pre-trial Release Program.
