UTICA (AP) -- A men's basketball game between two central New York community colleges was called off with less than a minute left after a brawl in the stands spilled onto the court.

The Observer Dispatch of Utica reports that the fight broke out among fans with 40 seconds left in Wednesday night's game in Utica between Mohawk Valley Community College and Herkimer County Community College.

Some of the fans left the stands and swarmed the court, forcing officials to halt the game. The visiting Herkimer team was leading by a point when the game was stopped.

Police officers eventually cleared the gym.

There were no reports of arrests.
