SYRACUSE -- A deal to sell off Alliance Bank Stadium to the Syracuse Chiefs is moving along.
The Onondaga County Legislature's Ways & Means Committee discussed the deal Friday morning, then submitted a proposal for the full Legislature to vote on.
Under the proposal, The Chiefs would continue to pay rent and about $500,000 a year in operating expenses. There is also an option for the Chiefs to buy the ballpark for $2.8 million. That's only a tenth of what it cost to build the stadium in late 90's.
Chiefs General Manager Joh Simone calls the deal a win-win. He says the Chiefs have the opportunity to pick up some of the expenses at the stadium, but the deal also gives the team a chance to generate more revenue.
The proposal will now go before the full Legislature for a vote on February 7th.
