ONEIDA CO. -- Authorities say an Oneida County inmate had a homemade weapon in his cell that he made from a toothbrush.

25-year-old Shaun Andrews, of Brooklyn, is charged with promoting prison contraband. He is currently locked up in the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

Andrews was already behind bars, charged with assaulting 30-year-old David Trebilcock who is accused of killing 6-year-old Lauren Belius in Sherrill last summer.

Deputies say they found a homemade "shank" in Andrew's cell that was made from a toothbrush which was sharpened to a point at both ends. Corrections officers say they found the weapon during a search of Andrews' property during a housing unit change.

He was already behind bars on assault charges and is now being held in lieu of $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.

Andrews will be arraigned in Whitestown Court at a later date.
