SYRACUSE -- CNY Central's Jim Kenyon is on the scene of a fire at 103 Elk Street in Syracuse.

The home is located between South Salina and State Street.

Fire Chief Steven Evans says the fire began in one room, but damaged the second floor and attic causing extensive damage.

The homeowner, Allie Pruitt, told CNY Central’s Jim Kenyon that the fire apparently began in the bedroom of her 12-year-old son. She says he ran out of the home shortly after the fire started and has not yet been located.

Firefighters say they had the fire under control after about 15 fifteen minutes. When they arrived, the fire was spreading throughout the entire second floor but the residents were out of the home.
