SYRACUSE -- You may notice more new faces walking through the streets of downtown Syracuse.
A market research company has relocated 185 employees from its location at Widewaters Parkway in DeWitt. That doubles the number of employees KS&R has in downtown Syracuse.
"KS&R's decision to relocate our contact center operations downtown is the result of a long and diligent evaluation," said Joe Snyder, a principal at KS&R. "Our new space will help us better meet our clients' needs, promote staff collaboration and improve processes. It demonstrates KS&R's ongoing commitment to downtown Syracuse. We are looking forward to it."
The employees are set up in offices at the Syracuse Building at 224 Harrison Street, across from KS&R's headquarters in the AXA Towers. The company's headquarters have been located downtown since it was founded in 1983.
Officials with the Downtown Committee say proximity to its headquarters and better access to public transportation convinced KS&R to expand their downtown presence.
"KS&R's decision to expand its downtown footprint demonstrates a commitment to our entire region," said Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner. "I welcome KS&R's employees and am confident they will enjoy the many benefits of joining the downtown business community."
Over the past few years, several companies have relocated to downtown Syracuse including Eric Mower and Associates, Sugarman Law Firm, O'Brien & Gere, MVP Health Care, SWBR Architects and BTI The Travel Consultants. "We are thrilled by KS&R's decision to expand in downtown Syracuse," said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Committee of Syracuse. "The continued growth of downtown Syracuse's office community demonstrates how much downtown has to offer businesses and their employees. Central location, walking distance to shops and restaurants, convenient transportation options, beautiful green spaces and an opportunity to live and work in the same neighborhood are just a few of the many reasons downtown Syracuse is a great place to work."
CenterState CEO President Rob Simpson says the move shows promise in the continued revitalization of the city's center.
