OSWEGO -- Firefighters rescued a person from the near-freezing waters of Oswego Harbor Monday evening.
The Oswego Fire Department got a call around 5:00 pm that someone was in the water along the breakwall just west of the lighthouse.
Using the department's inflatable boat, rescue crews were able to reach the 18-year-old in the water and bring him to shore at Wright's Landing.
"Minutes, if not seconds, count in a situation like that with the water temperature around 36 degrees" said Fire Chief Jeffrey McCrobie.
The victim has been taken to Oswego Hospital for treatment.
Oswego Police, the Coast Guard, and US Border Patrol also helped rescue the teen.
