WESTMORELAND, ONEIDA CO. -- According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Douglas J. Walts, 41, was charged with attempted arson following a domestic incident.

The Criminal Investigation Unit says Walts threatened to burn a residence down and as he exited the residence, he attempted to light a blanket on fire.

Investigators say that other people at the residence were able to put out the fire before there it caused any damage to the building structure.

Walts reportedly then left that residence and went into another building on the same property, which he also attempted to set on fire. The second fire was also extinguished before it caused damage.

Walts was arraigned in Floyd Town Court and committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $30,000 bail.
