SYRACUSE -- There may not be any snow on the ground, but the City of Syracuse is still getting ready for its Winterfest celebration.
Mayor Stephanie Miner says, "While this year winter has been very different in the City of Syracuse than it has traditionally been, we still have a Winterfest and this year you can come with your sunglasses and maybe even bermuda shorts."
The fun gets underway on February 15th and will run through the 26th.
Syracuse was rated one of the ten best Winterfests in the northeast and was featured by AAA in its New England travel magazine exposing the central new york festival to 3 million people.
Winterfest President Bill Cooper says, "People come from California, they come from Florida, we have a busload that comes from Virginia, a whole crew comes in from Pennsylvania, Canada, and the north county. People come in looking for hotels and have a good time each weekend."
This year there are several different events showcasing the best food and entertainment Central New York has to offer.
There will be the ice carving in Clinton Square on February 18th.
The chili cook-off will be February 25th at Hanover Square.
The wing walk will be on February 26th.
