FORT DRUM (AP) -- Another 140 members of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division are back home after a one-year tour of duty in Afghanistan.
A welcome home ceremony for the soldiers was held Sunday evening at Fort Drum.
The soldiers follow a flight of about 100 who returned recently. A Fort Drum spokesman says the rest of the 3,600-member brigade is slated to return to Fort Drum in 10 to 12 flights over the next three to four weeks.
The combat team, known as the "Spartans," was deployed as part of President Obama's troop surge in Afghanistan. They conducted operations in Kandahar Province in partnership with Afghan National Security Forces.
