OSWEGO -- An Oswego man is accused of breaking into a woman's home and robbing her while she slept.
Oswego police say 27-year-old Shariff Edmond, of 144 West Third Street, broke into a home at 208 West Third Street while the woman inside was sleeping. Police say he stole a cell phone, numerous other electronics, financial documents and cash. Police were able to track down Edmond using the stolen cell phone. Police say they later found Edmond hiding in a closet at a home at 140 West Third Street.
Police say Edmond is also behind a break-in earlier this month at 83 E. Mohawk Street in which a digital camera was stolen. They say he admitted to other burglaries as well.
Edmond is charged with burglary, grand larceny and petit larceny. He was arraigned in Oswego City Court and sent to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on February 21.
Police continue to investigate and additional charges are pending.
