ALBANY (AP) -- State records show about 2,400 marriages of same-sex couples in upstate New York since it was legalized last summer.

The new Health Department data, which don't include New York City, show more than 35,000 marriage licenses issued from July through December.

Most went to couples of the opposite sex, with about 20 percent to those who did not declare their sexuality, which was not required.

Almost 7 percent were issued to same-sex couples.
