SCRIBA -- One of the reactors at the Nine Mile Point nuclear plant in Scriba has been shut down.
Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, which runs the plant in Oswego County, says workers spotted a water leakage inside the structure housing Unit One on Sunday. They found a valve that needs repair. The reactor has to be shut down in order to make the repairs.
A spokesperson for Constellation says the plant is in a safe condition, and the issue does not pose a risk to the public or to any plant employees. The company says the reactor will only be started up once repairs have been finished and tested.
Unit Two is still running at full power.
