WAMPSVILLE (AP) -- A Madison County Court jury has found a 51-year-old former Syracuse-area man guilty of killing a man whose skeletal remains were found near a central New York creek in 2010.

The jury on Tuesday found Chauncey Winchell guilty of first-degree murder, robbery and other charges in the murder of 41-year-old Mark Murray. Winchell was accused of shooting Murray twice in the head while stealing Murray's car, cash and other property.

Winchell was serving time for robbery in Arizona last May when he was charged with Murray's killing.

He was ordered held in Madison County Jail without bail until he is sentenced May 1.
