LIVERPOOL -- It was insult after injury for a Liverpool man Thursday after he was hit by a car, and then given a traffic ticket for his troubles.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, just after 6:30 Thursday evening deputies were called to the 700 block of Old Liverpool Road, near the intersection with Electronics Parkway, for a report of a car/pedestrian crash. Police say 44-year-old John Crouch of 709 Old Liverpool Road was hit by a 2012 Subaru driven by 22-year-old Steven Riou of 4214 Steamwood Drive. Witnesses told police that Crouch was trying to cross the four-lane road and ran out in front of Riou’s car.

Crouch was taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was issued a ticket for crossing into the path of a motor vehicle. Riou was not cited in the incident.
