AUBURN -- People in and around the City of Auburn are being asked to conserve water.

The Cayuga County Health Department has issued a Water Conservation Order for Auburn and people downstream who get water from the City's filtration plant. That order is effective immediately. Health officials say a pump malfunctioned, which interrupted served to the plant.

Water customers in Auburn, Sennett, Throop, Aurelius, Brutus, Mentz, Montezuma, the water districts of Fleming-Springport and East Brutus, and the Villages of Port Byron and Weedsport are including in the conservation order.

The City is working on repairs. People are asked to conserve until those repairs are finished.
