SYRACUSE -- A lot of Syracuse fans don't want to talk too openly about heading to the Final Four.
After all, it might "jinx" the Orange's chances of heading back to New Orleans, where SU cut down the nets in 2003.
But if you'd like to be in the middle of all that madness, should this year's team make a title run, now is the time to start seriously thinking about travel plans.
Local travel agent Amy Benson Jarvis said hotel and airfare will only increase as we head toward March.
Right now, a round-trip ticket from Syracuse to New Orleans costs a little more than $600.
It's a little bit cheaper if you fly out of Rochester or Albany.
Benson-Jarvis said with the rising cost of gas, airlines may start tacking on a gas surcharge in the near future.
"If you want to get the best deal, just decide you're going no matter what, rather than at the last minute deciding to cancel and either reuse the air ticket or lose the hotel," she said. "I'd just decide I'm going and if SU doesn't make it, make other plans to do other things in the area."
Benson Jarvis said you could buy travelers insurance which will reimburse up to 75% of what you purchased.
She said the best advice is to buy early and read the fine print.
