SHERBURNE -- A Sherburne man is accused of assaulting a disabled person.

40-year-old Ramiro Detraglia is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, both misdemeanors.

It stems from an investigation into allegations of abuse at the New York State Operated Individual Residential Alternative (S.O.I.R.A.) Residential home at 50 North Main Street in Sherburne.

State police say Detraglia worked for the New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities and was assigned to this home as a staff member.

Police have not said what Detraglia allegedly did to the victim.

He was arraigned in the Village of Sherburne Court and released on his own recognizance.
