SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police said they arrested a 24-year-old man after staking out a home near Nottingham High School.

Last night, police say the man held a knife to the throat of a family member.

Rather than calling police last night, police say the family left the home.

Early Monday, the family made contact with police who arrived at the home on East Genesee Parkway near Nottingham High School.

After several hours of trying to make contact with the man, he surrendered.

His name has not been released.

Police say he will be charged.
