ALBANY (AP) -- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Wendy Long is touring upstate New York this week.

Long is one of two announced Republican candidates for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. The New York City lawyer says she is spending five days in upstate to meet with community leaders and voters.

Republican Nassau County comptroller George Maragos has been traveling across the state for weeks in his bid for the Senate seat.

New York Republicans will choose a designated candidate March 16 in Rochester.
