BYRON -- An 18-year-old western New York woman has been charged in connection with the crash that killed her friend as they rode a golf cart on a rural road at night last fall.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that Cortney Greene of Byron was charged with criminally negligent homicide, vehicular manslaughter and driving while impaired for the Nov. 26 crash that killed Zachary Rusin of Holley.
Authorities say Greene was driving the cart in Byron, 25 miles southwest of Rochester, when it was struck from behind by a vehicle. She and Rusin were thrown from the cart, and Rusin died the next day at a Rochester hospital.
Greene was released after her arraignment Tuesday in Byron Town Court. Information on her lawyer wasn't immediately available.
