ROME, ONEIDA CO. -- One person was hurt in a car accident involving a school bus.

It happened around 3:10 p.m. Wednesday on Rt. 233 in Rome.

Oneida County Sheriff's deputies say 68-year-old Gary Kraeger, of Oriskany, was driving a school bus north on Rt. 233 when he stopped to unload a passenger. Deputies say 54-year-old Ann Lavine, who was driving behind the bus, was unable to stop in time, rear-ending the school bus.

Kraeger and his passengers were not hurt. Lavine was taken to Rome Hospital with neck and back injuries. She was ticketed for following too closely.

Deputies say slippery roads were a contributing factor in the crash.
