ELBRIDGE -- Police say a Elbridge man went to the Elbridge State Police barracks to report being assaulted and robbed around 3:15am Saturday.
An investigation led to the arrest of William Jarvis, 56, who allegedly assaulted and stole money from a victim who was sleeping in his car.
Police say the victim, a former Elbridge resident who is currently homeless, was allegedly sleeping in his vehicle in the Champion Trailer Park when Jarvis entered his vehicle began to punch him. Jarvis then demanded the victim drive to an ATM machine to retrieve money, which the Jarvis took and subsequently left the area.
According to police, the victim and Jarvis are both acquaintances of an uninvolved female, and the suspect was reportedly collecting money that the victim owed to her.
