SYRACUSE -- West Genesee Superintendent Christopher Brown, says everything went as planned today after a bomb threat.
The high school on West Genesee Street in Camillus was evacuated as a precaution when a written threat was found.
Students emptied out of the school shortly after noon and got onto buses in the parking lot of the shopping complex next door.
Superintendent Brown says because of the time of day, it made more sense to send students home than try to get them back to class after sweeping the building.
He says the district has worked with police and fire officials to make the evacuation an efficient process.
Brown says, "We've got plans for things when this happens, especially when it's cold. Our students were outside for five minutes tops before they were on warm school buses and on their way, either with a parent or on one of our school buses."
Superintendent brown kept the community notified through social media, specifically on Twitter.
Around 12:35, Brown tweeted, "All students are safe, warm, and accounted for and are now being dismissed. Police are sweeping the building. Thanks for your understanding."
He announced the high school had been cleared at about 2:30pm.
