GRANBY, OSWEGO CO. -- A Granby man is accused of choking a woman for nearly an hour before she was able to get away and call for help.
40-year-old Andrew Jones, of 14 Melrose Ave. Apt. #5, is charged with two felonies and six misdemeanors.
State police say Jones was involved in a domestic dispute with the woman on Wednesday. They say he assaulted and choked her in their apartment for nearly an hour. They say she tried to call 911 from her cell phone, but Jones damaged her phone during the call.
The attack happened in the presence of three children, ages 2, 4 and 15.
Jones is charged with unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal contempt.
He had been ordered to refrain from assaulting or harassing the woman.
He was arraigned in the Town of Granby Court and sent to the Oswego County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
