A woman was charged with DWI after she hit a police car that was yielding to an ambulance on the 800 block of East Adams St. in Syracuse early Sunday morning.

Mercedes Garcia, 21, of Syracuse was driving her 2003 Chrysler Sebring at around 3:40 AM Sunday morning when she hit the cruiser. She then drove away from the scene, and was eventually stopped by police on the 1000 block of East Adams St. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

Garcia was then charged and ticketed with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage incident, and following too closely.

The Sebring was towed from the scene with minor damage, while the police car only sustained minor rear-end damage, and was driven from the scene.

Garcia will appear in court at a later date.
