ERIN (AP) -- The Chemung County Sheriff's office is investigating a fire that killed one person, put two others in the hospital and destroyed a trailer in a mobile home park in Central New York.

The fire broke out early Sunday morning at Crestwood Mobile Home Park off Route 223 in the town of Erin, about 65 miles southwest of Syracuse.

Cody Sloan, who lives in the mobile home park, tells the Elmira Star-Gazette that his sister lived in the burned trailer with her boyfriend and their 5-year-old son. Sloan says Jill Sloan and 5-year-old Aden Richards escaped, but the man died. His name wasn't immediately released by police.

The woman and child were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
