LODI, SENECA CO. -- A domestic violence investigation leads police to arrest a Lodi man on several charges, including sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl.
Seneca County Sheriff's deputies were initially called to a home in Lodi on December 17 for a reported domestic violence incident. Deputies say 37-year-old Timothy Knapp punched a 13-year-old girl in the mouth and used her to drive him around in a car. He was sent to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.
About a month later, Knapp was arrested again, accused of punching an 11-year-old girl in the chest and repeatedly spitting in her face, then choking a 7-year-old girl by picking her up by her neck. Knapp was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or circulation and endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies say he was also involved in domestic violence toward a woman in the presence of several children. He was again sent to the Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash or $40,000 secured bond.
Sheriff's investigators then joined forces with the Elmira Police Department and the Chemung County District Attorney's Office as they uncovered evidence of alleged sexual abuse that occurred in several different jurisdictions including the City of Elmira. Investigators say Knapp sexually abused an 11-year-old girl several times.
Knapp was eventually charged with four counts of predatory sexual abuse against a child. He was arraigned in Chemung County and committed on $30,000 cash or $60,000 secured bond.
