SYRACUSE -- A car crashed into a garbage truck on I-690 in Syracuse Tuesday morning.

The car crashed into a garbage truck just after 8:00a.m. as it was driving up the on-ramp to I-690 West from Teall Avenue.

Onondaga County 911 says the call was received at 8:04a.m.

Police say there are no major injuries but the car was heavily damaged.

The cause of the crash was that the driver was not paying attention and ran into the truck from behind, police say.

Traffic was backed up for a few minutes while the car was towed. Traffic was detoured down Burnett Avenue to the Midler Ave. ramp

Police have not said if there were any tickets issued or released the name of the driver at this time.
