CAYUGA -- A Cayuga County couple is outraged and trying to track down the person who shot their cat.
Rich Stevens and his wife live in the small village of Cayuga. They say Friday night, they let their cat, Sweety, outside after dinner like they always do. She usually comes back the name night, but this time Sweety didn't return until Sunday.
Stevens says Sweety had been shot twice. Veterinarians at the Cayuga Veterinary Center in Auburn removed one bullet from her neck. The other was lodged in eye. Stevens hopes to pick Sweety up from the vet on Thursday.
Stevens is hoping to find out who did this. He and his wife put up posters around the village, offering a reward for information. Stevens says he's shocked by this crime, adding, "This is a tiny little village. I know all my neighbors."
Stevens said he contacted police, who confirmed to us tonight that they've received the complaint.
