Extremely warm weather continues for the next 7 days
SYRACUSE -- Our streak of above normal temperatures continues right through the St. Patrick's Day weekend and throughout next week. So far this month, only 2 of the first 15 days of March have been notably below normal in temperatures. Plus, the last 5 days have been 13 to 25 degrees above normal!
Before I let you know what the forecast is, here are some interesting tidbits of weather history for St. Patrick's Day weather-wise for Syracuse since 1902:
Normal High: 43°. Normal Low: 25°
Record High: 73°/1927. Record Low: 5°/1961
Most Snow Ever: 7.9/1974. Most Rain Ever: 1.14/1973
Sunrise: 7:12am. Sunset: 7:14am
My forecast calls for areas of low cluds and fog in the morning for Saturday. Wherever the fog and low clouds form, it may take a while to burn off. During the afternoon, most areas should develop sunshine. Tune into Weekend Today in CNY for the latest forecast on where the low clouds and fog are the thickest. Assuming enough sunshine occurs on Saturday, temperatures should rise nicely and firmly through the 60°s. My forecast high is for 68°, which is not far away from the record high of 73° set back in 1927. Those temperatures are more normal for Memorial Day, not St. Patrick's Day. Speaking of record highs, temperatures will probably have an even better chance of approaching a record high on Sunday.
