The 2012-2013 Syracuse basketball team will look very different from this years team but will return several key players.
Seniors Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph are graduating and all indications are that starting center Fab Melo will not return. Junior Brandon Triche and sophomore C.J. Fair will likely be starters next year. Junior James Southerland should play a larger role and sophomore Baye Moussa Keita will also be back. Freshmen Rakeem Christmas and Michael Carter-Williams proved they are ready for more minutes next year and redshirt shooting guard Trevor Cooney should provide an offensive boost.
Incoming freshman center DaJuan Coleman and small forward Jerami Grant are among the top fifty high school players in the country and it would not be a surprise to see both of them play significant minutes as true freshmen.
It isn't clear if sophomore guard Dion Waiters will be back in an orange uniform next year of if he will enter the NBA draft. In the locker room after the loss to Ohio State, Waiters said "I would love to get revenge but like I said, at the end of the day I'm going to sit down with my family and I'll make a decision."
Waiters has been projected as a top twenty five pick by many scouts and NBADraft.net this season.
