TRENTON, ONEIDA CO. -- Oneida Sheriff's Deputies are investigating an apparent homemade bomb, turned in to them Sunday morning and found on a trail in Trenton earlier this month.
According to police, the partially-melted two liter soda bottle was filled with gasoline and 'a large quantity of live ammunition' (.22 and .223 bullets and shotgun primers). A match switch (wooden matches taped together) was also found on the trail. It's believed the device had been lit and some of the ammo had exploded.
Though it was turned in on Sunday, it was apparently found a week ago - last Sunday - by a Barneveld resident who'd been walking the trail and took the remains home before turning it in. The advice from deputies, though, if you find anything suspicious, don't touch!
Anyone with information on the device found on the Trenton Trail can call the Oneida County Sheriff's Barneveld office at 896-2985.
