Injuries not life-threatening
SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse woman was hit with birdshot after a man started fighting with occupants of her vehicle.
Syracuse Police say it happened in front of a storefront at 814 Butternut Street, near Townsend Street on Syracuse's north side, about 11:55pm Saturday night. 34-year-old Yvonne Stokes was in a vehicle when others in the car were arguing with the suspect, who pulled a shotgun out of the trunk of his 1990s Cadillac STS and fired four times into Stokes' vehicle, hitting her on the left side of her body with birdshot.
Stokes was taken to University hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say the suspect is a dark skinned black man in his twenties. He was wearing a blue shirt, puffy winter vest and light colored pants. The Cadillac, with New York plates, drove south on Schneider Street.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
