The Towns of Cicero and Salina continue to share services in an effort to keep costs under control.
The two local towns recently negotiated an agreement to continue sharing assessment services. "I am pleased that both the Cicero and Salina Town Boards unanimously agreed to enter into this shared service agreement," said Cicero Supervisor Jim Corl. "With cost savings of over $35,000 for each municipality per year, it makes perfect sense to commit to this two year agreement for a professional service."
The agreement means the Towns of Salina and Cicero will share Assessor Brad Brennan's time. He will be an employee of the Town of Salina, and the two Towns will split his salary and benefits. "The Salina Town Board has seen the value in sharing services with other municipalities," said Salina Supervisor Mark Nicotra. "The continued sharing of an Assessor with Cicero is another example of local government providing efficient service at a cost that's affordable to its residents."
Cicero and Salina were two of the first towns to embark on a shared services agreement that saved both towns thousands of dollars. They first began sharing assessment services in March 2009.
