SYRACUSE -- Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on the south side of Syracuse Tuesday morning.
The fire was at a house at 143 Lafayette Avenue, near South Salina Street and Cannon Street.
The initial call came in around 5:50 a.m. Onondaga County 911 says the structure was “fully involved” at one point, but fire crews were able to get it under control quickly. Syracuse Police and Rural Metro Ambulance were also called to the scene.
Officials say the two-family house has been vacant for about five years, and no one was inside at the time.
Syracuse Fire Investigators say the fire started at multiple locations on the exterior of the building. They say it was intentionally set, and they have lunched an arson investigation. They do not have any leads on a suspect at this time.
Anyone with any information on the case is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at 442-5222.
