VAN BUREN -- A Town of Clay man is charged with arson in a house fire that left a Van Buren resident homeless.

Karl Coe, Jr., 43, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the September 2011 fire. He's charged with Arson in the 2nd and 4th degrees, and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree. All three are felonies.

Early in the morning of September 23rd, Kay Oldenburg, 79, was rescued from her home on Baker Boulevard by David Koegel, 28.

Koegel crawled in through a bedroom window and got Oldenburg out of the house. He was later recognized as a Red Cross Real Hero.

Oldenburg was not hurt, but her home was destroyed by the flames. The fire was later ruled an arson.

Onondaga County sheriff's deputies say Coe was angry after Oldenburg's granddaughter broke up with him.

Coe was arraigned in the Town of Van Buren Court and was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center on $75,000 cash/$100,000 bond.
