Over a thousand women, a record number, attended Syracuse's WISE Symposium on Tuesday. It's the tenth year for the day-long event, which offers information, success stories, and lots of chances to network for Central New York women in business.
Keynote speaker Barbara Corcoran, who is an NBC Today Show contributor, and also supports enterpreneurs after a successful career in real estate, says she was happy to share her success story---after going through high school with straight Ds. 'You know, everyone's motivated in different ways," Corcoran told us. "I didn't build my business by myself, I built it with help from a heck of a lot of people. And you know you get down in building a business. You don't have all rosy days. So wherever you get motivation from, wherever you can get a helping hand from, it's all good cause it pushes you down the path."
We also saw lots of exhibitors and vendors at today's session---marketing and networking to the attendees, and telling us that the contacts for the future alone were worth it.
WISE Symposium, done in connection with Syracuse University's Whitman Business School, is a one-day event, but the WISE Business Center, on Syracuse's South Side next to Dunk and Bright, offers mentoring and information to women enterpreneurs year-round.
