SYRACUSE --

Fire investigators say a cigarette set a chair on fire on the porch of a multi-family home in Syracuse on Thursday.

The house is located on Elk Street between South Salina Street and State Street.

Investigators say the chair caught fire and the fire ran up the wall of the home but did not spread inside the home.

A man suffered minor injuries to his hand as he tried to put out the fire. He was not taken to the hospital.

No one else was injured and fire fighters were able to put out the fire.
