YORKVILLE -- A traffic stop leads to the arrest of two people on weapons charges in Yorkville.

Around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, police spotted a car swerving across the road at Oriskany and Jason Streets. Police say 31-year-old Virgil Smith, of Rutger Street, was high on drugs. Police say he also had a switch blade knife on him. Smith is charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say his passenger, 53-year-old Diana Vandenberg, of Leeds Street, told them he had given her drugs. When police searched her purse, they say they found drugs, spoons used for drugs, Xanax and a switch blade. She is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
