GOSHEN (AP) -- A 27-year-old man has pleaded guilty in the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old upstate New York man last year.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports that Tahir Atkins pleaded guilty to manslaughter Thursday in Orange County Court for fatally stabbing James Parker on a Middletown street on Dec. 1. Police say the two men were acquaintances, and Atkins stabbed Parker during a fight.

Atkins was originally charged with second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say in exchange to pleading guilty to manslaughter, Atkins is expected to get 15 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision by parole when he's sentenced in June.
