UTICA -- A man from South Carolina has been sentenced for kidnapping a woman and leaving her tied up in a Weedsport hotel.
Arnold Fox pleaded guilty to federal kidnapping charges last summer. He was sentenced Friday in federal court in Utica to at least 35 years in prison. Fox also has to pay $20,000 in restitution to the victim and her family.
Prosecutors say Fox placed a fake ad for a job at a fake horse farm. A woman from the Glens Falls area answered the ad, and Fox took her across state lines to Pennsylvania. Days later, investigators say he left her unconscious and bound with duct tape in a Weedsport hotel.
Fox was also sentenced to more than three years in prison on weapons charges. That sentence will run consecutively to the kidnapping sentence. Once Fox gets out of federal prison he will spend five years on supervised release.
